Add tracking parameters to a URL

Add tracking parameters to the destination URLs in each of your campaigns. Tracking parameters are a way of inserting additional campaign information and unique identifiers to each link in your campaign for later analysis. These can be added to links without making use of the UTM parameters specific to Google Analytics.

See these articles to set up tracking specific to Google Analytics or Facebook pixel conversions.

Tracking parameters can be added to all campaigns containing links to an external URL (all campaign types except Page Likes, Place, and App campaigns).

To add generic tracking parameters

  1. On the Ads Design step (2) of campaign creation, check the Add extra options to your URL box at the bottom of the page.
  2. Click Insert Placeholder, and select one or more dynamic values to add campaign information to your links that may change from ad to ad.
You can further customize what gets added to your URLs by inserting text between placeholders. (e.g. Name={ad-name})

See what your links will look like with the example URL below the Url Parameters field. If split testing more than one URL, the same parameters will be added to all URLs.

Note: If your destination URL contains a link fragment (e.g. https://app.adespresso.com#more-info), your tracking parameters will be inserted after the URL and before the # as required by URL structure.
